Rally for Healthcare in Hartford!

Are you interested in making Universal Health Care a reality in Connecticut?

On Friday April 24th, there will be a student rally in Hartford to push House Bill 6600, a plan for affordable healthcare in CT, into law. Organized by Yale Uni's College of Democrats and SustiNet, all like-minded college groups across Connecticut are invited to turn up for a fun-filled day with major speakers, other students, and signs! Come prepared with as many people as possible and an enthusiasm for universal health care. Press coverage is expected, so the more students that turn out, the stronger our message to the legislature will be.

Activities will go on from 10am-2pm. Kick-off at 10am with legislators and SustiNet advocates, followed by individual meetings with legislators, and distribution of SustiNet literature to legislators and their aides. It may also be possible to schedule a meeting with your specific representative and/or senator.

Attached is info about lobbying for health care. If you are interested in learning more about the event, want to schedule a meeting with your representative/senator, would like information about SustiNet or Yale College of Democrats, please contact Audrey Huntington (audrey.huntington@yale.edu). If you are attending, please also let Audrey know so they can track number of participants.

The rally is a great idea!

SustiNet is the only comprehensive health care reform bill before the CT legislature this year. For students, it would mean no more worrying about how you'll pay for health care once you leave school or become too old for your parents' insurance plan or can't find a job with decent benefits.

If you can't make the rally (and even if you CAN), don't forget to call your state legislators and urge them to support HB 6600 - SustiNet.
