It gives me pride and relief to watch
this film clip of testimonials from Israeli citizens who refuse to serve in general and in Gaza, now, specifically. Their words are full of wisdom from experience and from pain - it brought me to tears, quite honestly, and renewed my hopes for democracy in Israel. Definitely worth a watch, and the parts that impacted me most were at the end so even though it's seven minutes long, it's worth it.
Today on WNYC, Brian Lehrer interviewed Martin Indyk a former ambassador to Israel (during the Clinton administration.) He just wrote a book about his experience called Innocent Abroad: An Intimate Account of American Peace Diplomacy in the Middle East, which sounds pretty interesting...also, the show prompted an especially lively debate online on the show's "comments" section! http://www.wnyc.org/shows/bl/episodes/2009/01/14/segments/120932
